The Importance of a Wedding Monogram

Updated: Apr 2

All wedding design starts somewhere, usually with a curated Pinterest page or visual moodboard put together by your wedding planner. But how do you carry out your vision all the way from invitations to wedding-day-dinner and make it feel like one, cohesive design?

Enter, the wedding monogram.

Usually first introduced within the invitations, this symbol, crest, or iconic sketch is that token element that helps bind all the pieces of your big day together, making it feel purposeful and intentional.

Guests will know they're in the right place, recognize your symbolism, and the best part? You'll have a little something to live on past the wedding day besides just your photos! A personal brand unique to just the two of you!!

Monogram designs can range from something simple like modern serif intertwined initials all the way to complex crests but should reflect your style and other design elements (Bold and classy? Timeless and romantic? Floral-driven?) You get to decide!

They're also perfect for a wedding weekend to tie your days of celebration together even if your colors and styles are changing from event to event!

Below I've rounded up some of my favorite past monogram designs so you can see how they were used (and yes- ALL of my Life in Letters couples get a complimentary custom monogram design when they book invitations and signage with me!)
